Why we exist

The combi boiler was the last big change to the British home, and fifty years on we're still running a system designed for colder winters and milder summers than we now get.

The UK is short tens of thousands of climate engineers, which is why every summer the country queues for cooling and every winter for heating. We're not waiting for someone else to fix that.
Clime Academy trains and employs the crews who install everything we sell: proper employed roles, not gig work, paid from day one of training, with structured progression from F-gas certification through to whole-home system design, a van, a named team, and a trade that gets more valuable every year the climate changes.

Common questions
- When can I get Clime Air?
- From spring 2027, postcode by postcode, starting where our crews are based. Join the waitlist and we'll contact you the moment your area opens. During heatwaves we'll offer next-day installation inside live postcodes where crew capacity allows, with honest daily limits so a promise made is a promise kept.
- When can I get Clime Home?
- We install from 2027. We're certification-first, which means we won't sell or install whole-home systems until air-to-air systems are fully certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and our position under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is confirmed. Join the waitlist and we'll contact you the moment your postcode opens.
- Does the government grant apply to Clime Air?
- No, and we'll never pretend otherwise. The £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant applies to whole-home systems that replace your heating entirely, which is Clime Home. Clime Air is bought outright at its fixed price, and every Air install counts toward a future Clime Home upgrade.
- Is the £2,500 grant real money?
- Yes. From April 2026 the Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers air-to-air systems. For Clime Home we apply on your behalf and deduct the full value from your price upfront, so you never pay it or claim it back. The grant is subject to your property and system meeting the scheme rules, and Ofgem will contact you to confirm your consent. One grant is available per property.
- Do I need planning permission?
- For around 95% of homes, no. Permitted development was extended in 2025 to cover air-to-air heat pumps with cooling, and the old boundary rule was scrapped. Our design process checks the rest, including the required noise assessment, before anything is fitted.
- What does Clime Air cost to run?
- Less than you'd guess. At current typical tariffs, cooling a room costs around 10p an hour, and heating one costs around 13 to 14p an hour, against roughly 54p an hour for a 2kW plug-in electric heater, because every Clime Air unit is a heat pump delivering around three units of heat or cooling per unit of electricity. Exact costs depend on your tariff, room and usage, and we'll show you a personalised estimate with your quote.
- Will Clime Air really heat a room cheaply?
- Yes. Every unit is a heat pump delivering roughly three units of heat for every unit of electricity, so heating a bedroom or home office costs a fraction of running an electric heater. It's the same technology that cools you in July.
- Will Clime Home cool the whole house or just one room?
- The whole house. Any room the system heats in winter it can also cool in summer.
- What about my radiators and hot water?
- With Clime Home, the boiler and radiators come out, and hot water comes as part of the package, so showers, baths and taps work as they did before.
